Even coaches need to take it easy sometimes….
Why do I say this? Because here in the UK we’ve had the most wonderfully warm and sunny weekend, full of blue skies with the occasional fluffy white cloud, the heat-drenched scent of roses, and not a little ice-cream (at least as far as I’m concerned)! Those of you who haven’t had the dubious pleasure of a wet British summer will probably not understand the full significance of being able to enjoy what for us is a perfect June weekend – but I hope you’ll be able to join me in feeling relaxed and happy to be alive…
All that said, the upshot of this lovely weekend has been that today there is no blog post about some aspect of coaching. Nothing about any tools. Nothing about any coaching dilemmas…
But maybe I’m wrong! This may actually be the most important coaching blog post I write! Why?
Because it’s designed to remind us of our own humanity, our own frailties, our own need for compassion – towards ourselves and others. Even coaches need to take it easy sometimes…. And without compassionate care for ourselves, what good will we be to others? How will we bring a kindly, listening ear to our coachees if we can’t bring one to ourselves? How will we build the resilience to challenge our coachees if we can’t relax, enjoy the day, and exist in the present moment?
Hey, there I go again… Just for this week, I’ll leave it at that. Have a great June yourselves and a wonderful coaching summer…
